Many people living along the Burmese border suffer from a lack of vitamins which too often leads to chronic malnutrition. Food to Grow teaches children to grow nutrient-rich plants and vegetables on unused land at school. As well as learning valuable life-skills, they can now also bring healthy food home to eat with their families.
We wish to extend the project by planting more trees on the actual school grounds. This will happen when the rainy season will begin around May. Further we would like to add chicken as well to the project so each child can learn to look after chickens and also bring home eggs and sometimes meat. To do all this we first need some more funding.
The Moringa Tree is an important part of Food to Grow. This ‘wonder tree’ has an amazing variety and concentration of vitamins and essential minerals, making it an ideal food supplement.
Tum and Arree from Ritzy’s restaurant provided land to grow 80 trees and the first harvest will be in a few months.
