We live in extraordinary times. It is only sixty years since the dramatic increase of intercontinental travel at the end of World War II that created the backpacker phenomenon and opened the door to frequent world wide travel.

Even more spectacular has been the recent explosion of technology and the profound rise of the internet, which has connected people and cultures in previously unthinkable ways.

Regional, cultural world-views that had developed in relative isolation over long periods of time are now crashing into each other with a force and frequency that has never been seen before.

It is in this context that Blood Foundation advocates the importance of mutually rewarding and authentic cultural exchange programs. Like any relationship, understanding and affection begins with an experience of coming to know each other.
